What is Amla Candy?

Amla candy is a sweet and tangy confectionery made from fresh, juicy amla fruits. The amla fruits are carefully washed, deseeded, and then soaked in a flavorful syrup that enhances their natural taste.

Imagine turning amla (that tangy fruit) into tiny, tasty bites that are like a flavor party in your mouth. Making Amla Candy is easy-peasy – here's how. First, wash the amla really well and remove the seeds. Then, throw those amla bits into a pot and let them take a sweet swim until they're soft but not mushy. In another pot, mix sugar powder to make a sweet potion. let them waltz until each piece is wrapped in sugary powder. Let your candy cool down, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Then cover it with a black clothe for 3 days. Keeeping covered with black clothe to prevent it from blackness of amla slice. All you need is a pot, a chopping board, and a knife – no need for a fancy kitchen. Winter is your candy-making time when amla is at its juiciest, and making this candy won't break the bank. Amla Candy isn't just yummy; it's a health ninja too, packed with vitamin C and good stuff.

  1. Wash Amla(gooseberries)

Wash and Rinse the Amla(gooseberries)under cool water.gentle pet them and dry with cotton clothe or towel.

  2. Boil the Amla (gooseberries)

Place the gooseberries into a container. Add  2 cup of water or cover it with water.

  3. Bring the water to a boil

Cook the gooseberries until they turn soft and become crack in amla.

  4. Segments of amla

Discard the water from the container and then cool down the Amla (gooesbeeries) to handle.

After cooling down, discard the seed from amla and cut  the gooseberries into small slice.

  5. Making The Candy
  6. Add Sugar powder

Add 1 cup of sugar powder in amla slice. amd Mix well

  7. Add Lemon Juice

Pour 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

Lemon juice contains citric acid, which acts as a natural preservative. It helps extend the shelf life of the amla candy by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Both amla and lemon are rich sources of antioxidants, including vitamin C. Combining these two ingredients may potentially enhance the overall antioxidant content of the candy.

  8. Cover The bowl

Cover bowl with cotton clothe for 2-3 days until they absorbe syrup. I prefer you to cover it with black clothe to prevent amla candy from blackness.

Covering amla candy with black cloth may not be an effective method to prevent it from turning black. The blackening of amla candy is often due to exposure to air, moisture, or certain environmental factors, and using a black cloth may not address these underlying issues.

  9. After 2 days

After 2 days when you remove clothe you see the sugar powder is melted and amla candy absorbe syrup of sugar powder and lemon.

  10. Drain the water

Next,We will drain the water from the bowl using a strainer.

  11. Dry amla candy

After that , we will spread the amla candy on a plate and keep it in sunlight for one day to dry them.

  12. Again spread sugar

Then again we spread sugar powder on the sugar candy for sweetness on top.

  13. Store

Transfer all sugar powder amla candy in the container and cover the lid to store them and enjoy them upto 1 months.
